Blog Etiquette Stuff

I suppose this is a poll of sorts and there are no right or wrong answers. (I use to hate to hear that line but I'm using it anyway cause this is Jali's house!)

I've come to know and love a wide variety of people and their pages since I started my own. I'm always happy when bloggers come to vist me and leave a message. It's great when lurkers finally have something to say, and a nice comment from someone passing through is fun to see too. Do any you guys answer every comment made every day? Do you visit every commenter's page and leave a comment there? How about your blogroll? Do you visit regularly and comment?

I try my best to visit every commenter's page (eventually) to at least say, "thanks for the stop-by", but there have been times that I wasn't feeling the page at all and didn't want to keep visiting so decided not to leave a note ( examples: extreme conservative politics - extreme fundamentalist religion - something racist on the page - certain mommy blogs {some are great others not so much}, ). I keep getting this tickle (I guess it's my conscience) telling me that it's just basic courtesy to at least leave a note.

I have a list of favorite blogs that was manageable for a little while, but as I meet new people and check them out I add to my list of favorites and it takes hours and hours to get to see them all. I have a list of second favorites, which to be honest, are people I like but can't seem to get to because of my favorite favorites. (I know these are run on sentences Sister Loyola Marguerite but it's my blog and I'm not even Catholic anymore so get out of my head!)

I see some of you guys have over 50 comments per day and I still see you hanging out all over. How the hell do you do it? I know that since I only blog from the office I have a little less time than some, but some of you truly amaze me with witty or touching posts from the heart on a daily basis as well as thoughtful and appropriate responses on every blog you visit. I give pretty good grumpy sometimes - that's about it.

Ooooh! I have an idea - I'll show you mine if you'll show me yours: Here's Adrian:

He's going to be so thrilled that I posted his photo on the net.

The truth is that I have little else to do other than blog. I've given up cleaning, showering, and eating just to find the time. I still reserve time for shoe shopping and sex, but I'm thinking of combining these two for efficiency.

by the time I visit everyone who comments on my own blog (which I always do), I'm pretty much out of time to visit anyone else. my blogroll is a joke because I NEVER surf from my blogroll anyway. i have my very favorites in Bloglines, but even that's hard to keep up with!

I visit the blog of each new person who comments because the curiosity kills me. I thank them for visiting in MY comments. I may or may not comment when I visit their blog.

I try to respond to each comment, but that's because I set out for my blog to be a forum for discussion. Some posts generate more discussion than others. I rather enjoy when comment-ers address each other. My comments have actually gotten hijacked and moderated by other bloggers altogether once or twice.

I have my fav's. They're in my blogroll and yes, I visit them almost daily. I comment when I have something to say.

Bottom line: I have no life and I spend WAY too much time reading and commenting on blogs.

Adrian's a cutie. I don't have one to show.

I try to visit the folks on my blog roll as often as possible.

Sometimes it just does not happen.

Every other day I try to get out and visit new folks.

I use firefox and with tabbed browsing I have set up a file for new sites that I am visiting as a lurker.

After a certain amount of visits, I either add a new site to my blogroll or I keep the link in a visit when I can file.

I love the friends I'm making in the blogosphere. That makes creating my comments pretty easy.

By the by, you have a good looking partner, you must be as lovely on the inside as you are on the outside to keep him around.

I usually try to hit my blogroll and any commenters...occasionally I reply on my page. Than folks who keep coming past I tend to add. My best stuff is done during work hours...especially now tha I owe those DSL providing sons of guns some money.

If they leave a comment on mine, I 'favorite' them, check them out, if they amuse me or interest me, they stay. If not, least I stopped by.

You never get deleted btw. And Adrian is cute.

I don't have many comments, and they are all addressed to me, so I usually reply to all of them. I don't reply if ignoring them is the best thing, but that has only applied to my sister's comments.

I wanted discussion, but I don't have it on my blog and haven't found a bog where I can be part of a discussion. Neither do I have the energy to keep looking.

I do what Lex does w/ new commenters, because I don't want to give someone a false impression. I'd rather people not do stuff "just" to be polite. I don't want to have to think through others' motives, etc.

I read over 20 blogs, and the only one that updates daily takes longer to read than the others combined. Also, it's political, so I have to be in the mood.

This is all because I don't have a social life and I am blogging in place of reading TWoP recaps or watching T.V. It seems to me it's all about what community you have or don't have on your b log and elsewhere, and when people are available.

etiquette schmetiquette!

I am a horrible blogger. I barely comment, I try to answer my commenters but don't always get to it. It takes me no less than 4 hours to get thru bloglines.

I used to feel guilty. I don't anymore.

I have neglected to comment lately, Jali.

But I would never forget you.

Have a great 2007. x

I know exactly how you feel jali. Unfortunately I've got too much crap on these days to comment on everyone's blogs - I keep track of all mine in Bloglines, so while I do read them, alot of people don't get comments at all these days.

Like you, I feel kind of bad about it, but I just have to hope that people don't take offence by it, because I certainly don't mean any.

I have over 60 blogs on my blogroll, and if I visited and commented on them all the time, I'd never get anything else done. I still think they all kick ass though.

I try to respond to every comment on my blog. I don't always get to visit my favorites as often as I'd like because life gets in the way. Damn life! And I do check out new commenters, but if I can't think of anything to say, I don't. If I really like what I see, I read several posts and leave a calling card.

My blogroll has grown a lot since it was just you and two others.

I forgot to mention how cute Adrian is!

Thanks for um, sharing.

I reply to all my comments, but since i haven't been blogging from work, i just don't have the time to visit everyone anymore.
An average day would take me about three hours to get to everyones page. I can't affort to spend that time anymore.

My blogroll is LONG. I get to maybe half of them in a week.
New peeps i do check out, but don't always leave a comment.

I'm amazed at the amount of time some people spend commenting on blogs. I don't know how they find the time.

I have not commented to every single person that has left a note on my blog. It would be too time consuming to do that. However, if someone post more than once, I do make it a point to check their blog. If it's something that sparks me, then I comment.

Tending to four kids and a husband child, I don't always catch up with commenting in a timely matter. I try to comment back on my blog and I always check out their blogs. I love all the blogs on my blogroll and when I do finally have time, I sit down and click through each one and comment.

You rock Jali, so you know I gotta check you out! And that Adrian...umph, umph, umph! You go girl! He sho is fine! And you be one PURTY lady!
